The Twelve Apostles, Great Ocean Road

One of the top things to see in Australia is The Twelve Apostles, it is an attraction composed of eight Miocene limestone rock stacks that stand still despite years of bonding with waves of soft and strong. The coastline is one of the popular stretches in the world.

If you are taking a campervan to see this attraction, better, because you are at the same time travelling one of the world’s scenic drive – The Great Ocean Road. Visit Campervan Hire Australia.

The sunset and the sunrise is magnificent matched with the Twelve Apostles that gradually changes in color in rhyme when the sun comes to rest and when the sun comes back on duty in the morning. This is also goes by saying that this attraction captures the hearts of most photographers.

Driving the great ocean road is an amazing experience for couples, groups or families. Aside from the iconic Twelve Apostles there is more to catch on the way just like the London Bridge, the Blowhole and Loch Ard Gorge. Victoria has a huge opportunity for travelers from coastlines to bushes and wildlife. Go on, contemplate a travel in Victoria or visit Campervan Hire Victoria.

Would it be more fun to experience the attraction if you know the history?

The rock stacks are formed due to erosion. The unrelenting weather coming from the Southern Ocean disintegrated the soft limestone forming caves in the cliffs and later became arches.

In time, the arches disintegrated and transforming into rock stacks standing up to 45 metres high. It was then called Sow and Piglets until 1922 it was named to The Apostles for tourism and eventually became what it is now known as the Twelve Apostles even if there are only 9 rock stacks to offer.

In July 2005, the 50-metre rock stack disrupted and leaving eight rock stacks standing against the waves.
